Chelsea secured their second away win of their Premier League campaign by defeating Burnley, courtesy of goals from Ziyech, Zouma and Werner. Pulisic, who was named in the starting XI had to be be replaced by Werner at the last minute when the American got injured in the warm up.
Lampard provided an update on Pulisic after the game, and stated “He’s frustrated because he’s worked so hard to get fit. He’s played three games, we’ve tried to manage him in the week and it’s a small feeling in his hamstring so we’ll have to see how he is over the next 24 hours. Hopefully it’s short term, we’re talking weeks. It’s a minor feeling that he had but definitely not right to go into 90 minutes of a game with that.“
Pulisic’s teammate Mount wished him a speedy recovery and praised Werner for his performance after being asked to replace Pulisic at short notice. The midfielder added, “I felt sorry for Christian, he felt his hamstring in the warm up so hopefully he is back soon. He is an unbelievable player. We dedicated the win to him today. Timo came in and was brilliant as were all the players after a tough week. It was a tough week this week, three away games. A lot of travelling and flights, so we didn’t have a lot of time to recover for games but today I thought we were brilliant. Winning the game, winning the fight, matching them up and then we knew what we could do on the ball. I thought we did brilliantly and it showed in the scoreline.“
