Jorginho joined Chelsea on the same day Maurizio Sarri was announced as Chelsea manager. The Italy international was close to joining Manchester City, but decided to join with his former manager with whom he flourished at Napoli. Jorginho had a difficult start to his Chelsea career as fans identified him as Sarri’s favourite, which resulted in N’Golo Kante having to play in a more advanced role. Jorginho was expected to leave Chelsea after Sarri decided to take up the job at Juventus. However, the midfielder stayed put to be an important player under Frank Lampard last season.
Jorginho’s agent has now revealed the midfielder might have moved to Juventus had Sarri remained as the manager. Speaking to Calciomercato.it he said “He’s very happy with Frank Lampard and Chelsea can do even better than last season. Almost all the Italy players are in Serie A, as it’s an important league, but his journey took him to London. If Maurizio Sarri had remained, perhaps he’d have joined Juventus. Jorginho has a personal and professional bond with the coach that is very strong. We’re waiting to see where Sarri goes, and if it’s a big club in Italy, Jorginho could follow him.”
