Mikel Arteta has confirmed Thomas Partey will miss Sunday’s visit to Leeds due to a thigh injury suffered in the defeat to Aston Villa. Mohamed Elneny and Sead Kolasinac will also miss the trip after testing positive for Covid-19 on international duty.
Arsenal, who were on a high after defeating Manchester United at Old Trafford fell flat against Aston Villa, prompting Mikel Arteta to question his players mindset and attitude. Reports emerged yesterday about a physical altercation between David Luiz and Dani Ceballos in training, only for the midfielder to deny it on Twitter. Speaking to reporters on the incuident Arteta said “Training is very competitive and issues happen a lot of times. Those things get resolved immediately within the team and there is not much to say. There is no problem at all.”
Willian is also expected to miss Sunday’s trip as the Brazilian was on an unauthorised trip to Dubai, and now needs to self isolate due to the Covid-19 protocols. Arteta confirmed the issue will be dealt internally, and added “We had a conversation and I explained what I was expecting. I don’t confirm anything, that only it is an issue that has been resolved, explained and let’s move on.”
