Diego Maradona has died at the age of 60 after suffering a cardiac arrest at his Buenos Aires home. The football legend underwent a surgery two weeks back for a clot in his brain. The Argentinian played club football for Boca Juniors, Napoli and Barcelona and was liked by millions of people all over the world. Maradona’s inspirational captaincy helped Argentina win the World Cup in 1986, with his ‘Hand of God’ eliminating England in the Quarter-finals.
Maradona’s death was confirmed by his lawyer and soon tributes started pouring from footballers around the world. Argentina TV reporters travelling on motorbikes filmed the ambulance carrying him two weeks back as he was hospitalised for an emergency surgery to remove a blood clot in his brain. The Argentine Football Association expressed their condolences on social media and posted “deepest sorrow for the death of our legend. You will always be in our hearts“.
