Toby Alderweireld has been ruled out of Thursday’s Europa League game against Ludogorets and the London derby in Premier Legaue against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The Tottenham defender suffered a groin injury in the win against Manchester City which saw them go top of the table. Jose Mourinho described the injury as “bad” after the Manchester City game.
Alderweireld will definitely be missed by Tottenham as they try to underline their title credentials against a Chelsea team who have scored the most number of goals. The game will see both clubs face against each other for the second time this season after Spurs knocked out Chelsea through penalties in the EFL Cup. Frank Lampard’s Chelsea will have a two day advantage to prepare for the game as Spurs play Ludogorets on Thursday in the Europa League.
