Ian Wright urges Arteta to start Reiss Nelson instead of Willian

Arsenal will face Tottenham in a much awaited North London derby this Sunday as both teams find themselves at the opposite ends of the table. Arsenal have lost five of their opening 10 games and are placed 14th in the table, while Tottenham top the table with just one defeat. Arteta and his players have come under intense scrutiny and criticism following a third successive defeat at home. The Gunners have managed to score just 10 goals, with Lacazette being the top scorer with 3.

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright is concerned with Arsenal’s attacking form and has urged Arteta to start Reiss Nelson instead of Willian in the North London derby. Speaking on Ringer FC’s ‘Wrighty’s House’ podcast Wright said “I’d try to throw something else into the mix, Reiss Nelson or even Saka on the right. For me he’s been a little bit negative with the way he’s been playing, a lot of backwards passing. You need somebody who can at least get back and progress the ball. If Saka can go and really put pressure on Aurier, that’s where I think if we’re going to get any kind of joy then I think Saka’s got to go up there and put pressure on him, then Xhaka can pull in on the left, just to put that body in there then Elneny should hold.”

Wright is fearful of the prospect of facing Mourinho’s Tottenham this Sunday as his former club remain in the bottom half of the table. He added “This is the first one I’m going to where I am afraid. I’m afraid simply because of where Tottenham are at the moment and we can’t ignore where they are at the moment, they’re in the ascendancy. This is as afraid as I’ve been for a North London derby and they’ve got Mourinho managing them. He wants to embarrass us.
