Manchester City have confirmed Kyle Walker, Gabriel Jesus and two members of staff have tested positive for Covid-19. The duo featured in their Carabao Cup win against Arsenal on Tuesday, and now look set to miss the matches against Newcastle, Everton and Chelsea.
Premier League regulations require players and staff to self-isolate for 10 days if tested positive for Covid-19. Manchester City released a statement on Friday stating “All four personnel will now observe a period of self-isolation in accordance with Premier League and UK Government protocol on quarantine“.
“Everyone at the club wishes our colleagues a speedy recovery over the Christmas period ahead of their return to work, training and competition.“
The loss of Gabriel Jesus will be a big blow for Pep Guardiola as the Brazilian has been leading the attack for Manchester City in the absence of Sergio Aguero. Although the Argentinian featured against Arsenal for the final 15 minutes, he might not be match fit to feature in all of the festive fixtures.
