Cavani to return for Burnley game

A victory against Burnley would see Manchester United go top of the table, before heading to face Liverpool on Sunday. The clash against Liverpool could be a potential title decider, but Solskjaer has played down the title talks and said his side are just one among many candidates to challenge for the title.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the Burnley game, Solskjaer said “We’re better off this season than we were at this stage last season. We’ve played better football, won more games. Nobody remembers who’s top on January 12th but we’re progressing.”

We’re improving. It’s been since Sir Alex left we’ve been second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth seventh so it’s up to us to establish ourselves among the top four. We’ve only been there three times since Sir Alex left

It’s a different ball game to when I was a player, we were disappointed if we didn’t win the league. But now so many teams consider themselves candidates

Soslkjaer confirmed Edinson Cavani will be available for the Burnley trip after serving his three-match suspension. Speaking on the Uruguayan, Soslkjaer said “Edinson has trained well when he’s been banned. He’s had a couple of days off, of course, as well – you can’t train too much.

But he’s ready to go, he gives us a different option. He’s a different type of striker or forward than Mason, Anthony and Marcus, so I’m glad to have him back. That’s why we brought him in.

He’s contributed really well so far and I’m sure he’ll be really important for us now until the end of the season. We feel the season starts tomorrow night.”

The Norwegian confirmed Luke Shaw and Victor Lindelof were fit for the trip, while Pogba and Eric Bailly may get involved. “All of them trained today. Paul and Eric just didn’t do all of it, but Luke and Victor did all of it. So I’ve got a decent amount of players to pick from. Let’s see with Paul and Eric how they are tomorrow

Speaking on Burnley, the United manager admitted its hard to score against San Dyche’s men, and added “Burnley had some good results after a difficult start. It’s hard to score against them, they don’t concede many chances.
