Manchester United reclaimed the top spot after defeating Fulham 2-1 on Wednesday to extend their unbeaten run to 13. Goals from Cavani and Pogba helped defeat Fulham after Lookman gave an early lead for the Cottagers.
Pogba, who scored his second goal in 2021, has been instrumental in winning their last two games to help United stay at the top of the table. The Frenchman put in a man-of-the-match performance to inspire a comeback win against Fulham.
Speaking to United’s official website, Pogba warned his teammates not to be complacent. The France international added “For sure, it’s better. We’re really happy with what’s happening, but we want this to carry on again.”
“We want it more and more and more. Never enough, we’re still far from the trophy.”
“This is the Premier League, it’s not going to be easy. It’s hard to get there, it’s going to be even harder to stay there.”
“We know we have to keep focused, and keep working, keep playing, keep pushing and believe in ourselves. Not arrogance, but be arrogant in the way that, yes – we’re proud to be there, but we’re not there yet.”
“We didn’t do nothing, you know? We haven’t done nothing yet, so we have to keep working.”
Solskjaer praises Pogba
Ole Gunnar Solskajer praised Pogba for his recent performances, but also attributed the recent performances to midfielder’s improved fitness. The United manager added “I’m very happy with Paul’s performance.”
“Sometimes impressed is a strong word, I know what he can do.”
“It was all about getting Paul fit; running fit and match fit. He played central midfield, made some good runs into the box, made challenges despite getting an early yellow card, which is always dangerous. But he kept his discipline and won tackles for us.”
“He does everything, we know Paul can do more or less everything that is asked of a midfielder, now he is putting all the elements together in the same performances which is great to see.”
“He’s enjoying his football, he’s very happy mentally and physically in very good shape. We know all about his talents, today we decided to play him in midfield, and it was worth it.”
