Manchester City claimed their 19th away win as they defeated Crystal Palace 2-0 to close in on the title. A win against Chelsea next week, or a defeat for Manchester United against Liverpool tomorrow will ensure City win the Premier League this season.
Pep Guardiola praised City’s all time leading goalscorer Aguero, who opened the scoring against Crystal Palace. The Argentinian is set to leave Man City at the end of the season, and Guaridola admitted the striker would be a great addition to any club. The City manager added “He is an absolutely top, legend, extraordinary player. Humble.”
“Normally top quality players aren’t always. That’s why I love him as a man. This season he took a difficult decision, one of the toughest. To maintain this level for a longer time. What he has done at this club will remain forever. He wants to finish the best way possible.”
“The moments in between the lines with Crystal Palace we struggled. We spoke about that, attacking more quick than usual. Second half we did, switched play. In the second minute of second half – wow. More intention to score a goal. A pass from Mendy, control, step finish from Aguero.”
Guardiola also praised Nathan Ake’s performance, after the Dutchman was given a rare start. He added “I am so satisfied. I love the nice guys and he is one of the nicest. He has struggled a lot this season.”
“I’m pleased for him today. A guy who is incredibly focused, defended the box like it was the last game of his life.He is going to help us a lot.”
