Gareth Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett has revealed Spurs do not have the option to re-sign the Wales international next season. The former Spurs attacker has one year left in his lucrative contract with Real Madrid.
Bale enjoyed a good season with Spurs, and scored 16 goals for the club in all competitions, including 11 in the league. With Zidane no longer at Real Madrid, Bale might be tempted to return to the Spanish club after Carlo Ancelotti took over the reigns last month.
The Wales international is expected to hold talks with Ancelotti after the Euro 2020 tournament. Jonathan Barnett has confirmed that Spurs cannot re-sign Bale on loan, or permanently this summer. He added “As I have said from the beginning, there is no option.”
“Gareth has no agreements whatsoever. He is under contract to Real.”
Bale walked out of an interview when asked if it was his last appearance for the country after Wales were knocked out of Euro 2020 by Denmark. However, the attacker insisted he would continue to play and said “I want to continue to play. People ask stupid questions all the time, but obviously I love playing for Wales.”
“I’ll play for Wales until the day that I stop playing football. We’ve just started the World Cup campaign, and we need to take this [Euros] experience into that.“
“I feel like we have a very good way of playing when we play well and we need to keep that confidence high, keep playing football and I think we can qualify for the next World Cup.”
