Aston Villa have reached an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen for the transfer of Leon Bailey. The Jamaican will join Dean Smith’s side after completing the medical and agreeing personal terms with the club.
Aston Villa confirmed the news on their official website and on Twitter.
The announcement of Bailey’s arrival might indicate Aston Villa are willing to let Jack Grealish leave after Manchester City submitted a £100m offer for their club captain. Although Villa have not responded yet to the offer, it is understood Villa will not stand in the way if Grealish wants to leave.
Despite signing a five year deal with Villa last September, Grealish was provided an improved contract this summer. However, it remains to be seen if the England international would move to Manchester City.
Grealish’s potential move to City would be the biggest transfer in English history, surpassing the £89 Manchester United paid to bring Paul Pogba back to Old Trafford from Juventus.
