Daniel James joins Leeds United

Wales international Daniel James has sealed a permanent transfer to Leeds United by signing a five year contract from Manchester United for £25m. James, who started the two of United’s first three Premier League games this season decided to moved to Leeds after the return of Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus.

James almost joined Leeds United a couple of years ago, but decided to sign for Manchester United in 2019 from Swansea. The Welshman will wear number 20 shirt for Marcelo Bielsa’s side after returning from the international break. Speaking to LUTV after completing his signing, James admitted he was excited to join Leeds. He added “It feels great. I’m glad everything is over the line now and I’m just looking forward to getting started.”

There’s been interest for a while and it’s happened late in the window due to various reasons, but I’m just glad that I’m here now, I’m ready and I can’t wait to get going. It’s an amazing club, with an amazing history and a great group of lads. I know a few of them already and I’ve had some great chats with them already.”

Liam Cooper has text me a few times and I play with Tyler Roberts at Wales so I know it’s a great group of lads, I just can’t wait to play in front of the Leeds fans. There’s always been interest and this is the next part of my career, I’m just excited to be here.”

I’m looking forward to getting going under Marcelo Bielsa, I think he’s well known all around the world and everyone learns things off him, so I’m just looking forward to learning everyday.”

It’s an exciting team, getting better and better every year with a great group of players and young players coming through as well. It’s a club from when I was young that was always big. When I used to play for Hull and we played Leeds, it was always a massive game.”

It’s just great to be here now and I believe this team can achieve anything. I definitely think the team will suit my type of play, it’s high energy which is what I give and I had some tough games against them recently. I’m just looking forward to playing in this team now.”
