Manchester United were dealt a major blow ahead of their weekend trip to Leicester City as defender Raphael Varane got injured in the UEFA Nations League final against Spain. The France international is expected to be out for a few weeks as United face a tough list of fixtures ahead in the Premier League and Champions League.
Manchester United released an official statement on Varane’s injury stating “Raphael Varane sustained a groin muscle injury in the UEFA Nations League final and has commenced rehabilitation at the club.”
“He will be out for a few weeks.”
Having already lost club captain Harry Maguire to injury last month, the injury to Varane will be a real problem for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as his team has games coming up against Leicester, Atalanta, Liverpool and Tottenham.
Maguire, who has been working on his rehabilitation informed that he might be back with the team soon. Speaking on his recovery the England international said “Yeah it’s getting there. “
“I still haven’t trained yet with the squad, but I am getting better, I am progressing as I should be. It is obviously a frustrating injury for me to get, but I am progressing and I will be back on the pitch soon.”
On a brighter note, Phil Jones and Marcus Rashford have been training with the first team during the international break, and are likely to feature against Leicester City on Staurday.
